PURPOSE:To display a picture of high quality prevented from flickering by dividing each dot constituting a dot matrix into two or more sections having different area ratio and processing each divided element by the digital signal of a required picture signal to display each dot as density in accordance with the change of the picture signals. CONSTITUTION:When a picture signal is inputted to a comparator 9, the density level of the picture signal is compared by the 1st-3rd comparators 9a-9c and an 'H' or 'L' digital signal is outputted to form segment data A, B. When the elements 11a, 11b of each dot 11 connected to the COM1 of a common electrode 2 are turned on, the segment data A, B are outputted from a segment driver 14 to drive the elements 11a, 11b and display the density. Since the area ratio of the large hook-like element 11a to the small square element 11b is set up to about 2:1, at least four kinds of density display can be obtained in accordance with the driving state of the elements 11a, 11b. |
