<p>1415619 Mixing apparatus SUN ENG CO Inc 3 July 1974 [11 Jan 1974] 29523/74 Heading B1C A device, Figs. 1 and 2, for mixing flowing liquid comprises a cylindrical hollow vessel 10 having end plates 12, 13 and a centre sleeve 15, the liquid entering the vessel e.g. at an opening 13a, flowing from the sleeve 15 through a longitudinal aperture 15a into an annular space between the sleeve 15 and the vessel wall 11 in which it is made to follow a zig-zag path by means of baffles 16, 17, 18 to leave the vessel at an opening 12a. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3 the liquid issuing from outlet 12'a passes into a further mixing chamber in which it is mixed with an additive liquid introduced through inlet port 11'c and is then made to follow a helical path upwardly in the further mixing chamber by means of a duct 19 having a helically inclined upper surface 19a, the liquids then flowing downwardly around an outlet tube 23b by which the mixed liquids are finally discharged. In Fig. 5 (not shown) a stack of superimposed devices as shown in Fig. 3 forms a flocculator column for the treatment of sewage liquid, different additives (5% lime solution, 5% aluminium sulphate solution and 0.05% high polymer coagulant) being added to the flow of liquid at separate stages of the column.</p> |
