EXTRACTING DEVICE OF COMPLICATED LINE GRAPHIC AREA

PURPOSE:To attain the extraction of only a character area independently of the direction of stroke of a character and an isolated character or a continuous character by using the Hadamard transformation for a picture in terms of hierarchy to extract a characteristic expressing a complicated line graphic area. CONSTITUTION:A picture including a character and a graphic form is inputted to a picture memory 12 from a picture input device 11. Then the area of the memory 12 is divided into 1/P (e.g., D1-D4) to store to the 1st area split circuit 14. Then the D1 is applied to the 2nd area split circuit 15 and an Hadamard transformation circuit 16. The circuit 16 applies the Hadamard transformation processing to the area D1 to apply to a logical filter 17. The filter 17 applies the amount of discrimination to a discrimination circuit 18. The circuit 18 discriminates whether or not the area is character area. When the area is discriminated to be the character area at the discrimination, the circuit 18 gives a character area signal to a controller and an AND circuit 20. The controller 13 divids the area D1 stored in the circuit 15 into 1/Q to give to the circuit 16. The circuit 16 gives an output to the filter 17. The similar processing above is repeated.
