PURPOSE:To suppress abrupt variation in the turn-on voltage of a lamp, rising of the turn-on voltage of the lamp on a desired value speedily and prolong the life of the lamp by providing stepwise soft starting mechanism. CONSTITUTION:The controller for the lamp consists of a power source 1, halogen lamp 2, gate control rectifying circuit 5 for a triac 3, trigger element 6, zero-cross circuit A, detecting circuit B for the lighting operation and effective value of the lamp 2, microcomputer 27, etc. The device having the microcomputer 27 is equipped with the soft mechanism which increases the phase control angle in every half cycle of the voltage of the power source 1 applied to the lamp 2 after operation starts successively at the 1st time intervals, and then increases the phase control angle at the 2nd time intervals shorter than the 1st time intervals after the source voltage rises up to a set voltage level. |
