PURPOSE:To sensitize a photosensitive emulsion to the light in the green wavelength region by adding a specified sensitizing dye to a silver halide photographic emultion. CONSTITUTION:A photographic emulsion contains in an amt. of 5X10<-7>-5X10<-3> mole per mole of silver halide, a novel sensitizing dye superior in sensitivity and raw storage stability represented by formula I in which Z is O, S, or Se; R1 is alkyl or aryl; R2, R3 are each alkyl; W1, W2, W3, W4 are each H, alkyl, halogen, alkoxy, aryl, carboxy, nitro, hydroxy, or the like; each group of W1 and W2, W2 and W3, and W3 and W4 may combine with each other to form a ring; D is an atomic group necessary to form an oxazole or oxazoline ring; X<(-)> is an anion; and n is 1 or 2 and when an intramolecular ion is formed, n is 1. |
