PURPOSE:To provide a material for shadow mask with improved resistance to stretcher stylene and press workability by rolling a hot-rolled low carbon rimmed steel plate containing a specified amount of C and S to a desired thickness through a primary cold rolling, a secondary cold rolling after a decarburization annealing and a rolling after non-decarburization annealing under a prescribed condition. CONSTITUTION:A hot-rolled steel plate made of a low carbon rimmed steel containing 0.03 to 0.10% of C and 0.014% or less of S undergoes a primary cold rolling via the normal process and is subjected to a decarburation annealing in an open coil annealing furnace under a wet hydrogen atmosphere to reduce C to 0.005% or less. Successively, following a secondary rolling, it undergoes non-carburization annealing above the recrystalization temperature but below 600 deg.C and futher is cold-rolled to a desired thickness with a cold rolling rate of over 10 to 25% to produce a steel strip for shadow mask. Providing a photo-etching hole on the steel strip can produce a material ideal for shadow mask with a press forming eliminating annealing and leveller treatment. |
