The trivalent metal salts are able to form hydroxides in water. They act to control the ground moisture. - The trivalent metal salt is esp. sulphate opt. mixed with ferrisulphate. It acts to reduce the direct evapn. of soil moisture. On contact with water the salt forms a high volume substances which absorbs up to 100 times its weight of water. This can be adsorbed by the roots of the plants. The Al sulphate is used as 500-4000 kg/ha. They give improved control of ground moisture without forming an impermeable coating.
