The invention relates to welding. The device forming the subject of the invention is characterised in that it comprises an additional welding head 15 equipped with a mechanism 16 for advancing into the slag pool a meltable electrode rod 17 and a filler wire 18 directed via a guide element 19, which additional welding head is mounted on the main welding head 1 so that it is possible to change the angle of inclination of the meltable electrode rod 17 with respect to the non-meltable electrode 5, the element 19 for guiding the filler wire 18 being fixed to the wire guide 4 of the main welding head 1. The invention is applicable to electro-slag welding and build-up (weld overlaying) of work pieces by means of circular layers (beads), preferably of work pieces made from alloys based on titanium, nickel and copper. <IMAGE>
