PURPOSE:To minimize each thrust force of a cutting edge in each face against a tooth of a work gear as well as to reduce the thrust force of a cutter as a whole, by altering the arrangement of cutting edges at both acting and counteracting face sides in a proper manner. CONSTITUTION:Cutter teeth Z1, Z6, Z4, Z2 and so on of a plunge cut shaving cutter are installed each in where they should be. A helix A' connecting a cutting edge at the acting face side and another helix A connecting a cutting edge at the counteracting face side are different each other. That is to say, a helix angle of the former is of beta1 while a helix angle of the latter is of beta2. Next, since either cutting edge at both tip side and countertip side cutting edges performs cutting in making a central deepest infeed part of a scarf formed by a preceding cutting edge an infeed starting point, the cutting edge at either side is also minimized in its thrust force to each tooth of a work gear so that the total thrust force of the cutting edge becomes minimized, thus the thrust force of the cutter on the whole is reducible in this way. |
