An antilock brake system with a wheel brake, a circuit for controlling the supply of a hydraulic pressure to the wheel brake, a wheel speed detector and a decision circuit, which is provided in order to emit a brake pressure reduction signal and a brake pressure increase stop signal to the hydraulic pressure control circuit according to a determined value which is emitted from the wheel speed detector, which is characterised in that a filter circuit, which permits the passage of a brake pressure reduction signal only if its pulse duration is not less than a predetermined level, or only if its frequency is not higher than a predetermined value, is connected to the output terminal of the decision circuit for supplying the brake pressure reduction signal. Even if a brake pressure reduction signal is emitted from the decision circuit owing to the pulsation of the wheel speed, which pulses are caused by vibrations of a suspension system which occur when a vehicle is travelling on a bumpy road, the signal is transmitted to the hydraulic pressure control circuit, thereby preventing an undesirable increase in the braking distance.
