The at least one circulating pump of the filter system is driven by a variable-speed motor. The regulating pulses for changing the speed are obtained by comparing the set-point flow rate with the actual flow rate in order thereby to maintain a minimum circulation flow rate specified in accordance with the degree of usage. Such a regulation of the operation of the filter system minimises the energy consumption.
