METHOD OF MANUFACTURING VENEER

Process for producing wood veneers, in which a log is decorticated, rough cut, soaked and digested and whilst still warm and soaked with a coating thickness of fractions of a millimetre along plane-parallel surfaces of cut extending in the longitudinal direction of the fibre are cut to give veneer blanks extending over the entire surface of cut, which are then dried, squared and provided with a support coating preventing cracks from forming in the veneer on drying and are then stacked in accordance with their original reciprocal position, characterized in that to the still not completely dried veneer blanks also is applied a film of a hardenable, flowable or brushable support material, which is hardened to the support coating firmly adhering to the veneer.
