An engaging closure fastening device, which has controlled separation characteristics, has hooks 24', 30' engaging in one another, which on one side of each closing element are longer and/or larger than the hooks 23', 29' engaging in one another on the opposite side of each closing element. In a second embodiment the controlled separation characteristics are achieved by making the profile part of the closing elements of more rigid plastic material. A combination of these two embodiments produces optimum controlled separation characteristics. Used in connection with a container, a closure-fastening device manufactured in this way produces good handling characteristics and controlled opening characteristics with a simple construction, which requires a minimum quantity of plastic resin material. <IMAGE>
