What is proposed is to cultivate the farmland in such a way that both a main crop, especially cereal, and grassland plants are grown, the grassland seed being discharged before the harvesting of the cereal at such a time interval from this that the grassland seedlings are not yet affected by the harvesting of the cereal. With the partial overlap in time thus achieved between the growth periods of the two cultivations, the farmland under the standing cereal is in the fallow state, thus benefitting the germination and growth of the grassland plants. At the time of harvesting the cereal, the green seedlings are already strongly developed and preserve the fallow nature of the land. The grassland seed is discharged into the standing cereal by means of a remote-controlled air vehicle which, because of its small size, is less expensive than a manned aircraft, this being especially important on the small parcels of land in German agriculture. It is especially recommended to use a remote-controlled helicopter which generates only a slight downwash in the overflown region and which can therefore be flown over the cereal field at low height.
