An adhesive compsn. consists of starch, water, and an alkali, in which the solid starch involved is 10-40 wt.%. The pH value of the adhesive is 8-13, the gel point is 52-75≦̸C, and the Stein Hall viscosity is 20-120 sec. The starch portion comprises two parts of a completely gelled starch and a partially expanded starch in the wt. ratio of 0.2:100-2:1.
