A propionibacteria suspension was inoculated into the culture medium, which was treated by gas-pack (BBL method) to give an anaerobic condition. A cultured cell was harvested by centrifugation. The precipitated cell was disrupted by glass beads and a cell disrupter. The suspension-containing cell wall and cytoplasm materials was centrifuged, suspended in a phosphate buffer (pH 7.2). The autolytic entyme was inactivated boiling, and the cell wall was treated with trypsin to remove the remaining protein. Thus, the purified cell wall was lyophilized. An efficient cell wall of propionibacterium granulsum, P. acenes, P. avidum was used in the radiotheraphy and chemotherapy treatment of a tumor.
