PURPOSE:To enable the detection and recording of a detecting and measuring direction adapted to a stringing detecting and measuring car, by forming a pulse line having order characteristics inherent to the axle rotary direction of the detecting and measuring car and detecting an advance direction by a logical circuit. CONSTITUTION:A slit plate 2 and a sensor 3 are provided to the axle 1a of a truck 1 to constitute a pulse generator and a pluse line obtained from said pulse generator is inputted to the detecting and measuring direction detecting circuit 4 provided on the truck 1 and a reverse signal and a detecting direction signal are recorded by a recorder 18. The paper feed of the recordar 18 comprises a distance proportional system and the detecting and measuring data obtained by a stringing detecting and measuring part 16 is subjected to desired processing in a signal processing part 17 to be recorded by the recorder 18. By this method, the detection and recording of a detecting and measuring direction adapted to a stringing detecting and measuring car can be performed.
