The pulsator actuated by means of a low pressure source has pneumatic damping chambers (8, 9), a diaphragm (4, 5), which in each case bounds a damping chamber (8, 9), freely resting against a supporting element (13, 14), the shape of the latter being approximately complementary to the opposite wall of the damping chamber (8, 9). As a result of this, the volumes of the damping chambers (8, 9), which are connected to one another by means of a channel (10) with a throttle point (11), can fluctuate between a maximum value and a minimum value which is virtually zero, which prevents the impairment of operation by a pneumatic spring effect on a control spindle (12) which reciprocates in an axial direction and supports the supporting elements (13, 14) at its ends.
