The unit has a hollow handle (3) and a headpiece (4) which can rotate with respect to said handle. A bar (10) fastened on the headpiece has a helical groove and is seated in the cavity of the handle, in which a counter-piece interacts with the groove, such that, when the handle is displaced axially towards the headpiece, the two parts are set in rotation with respect to one another. A clamping device (2, 9, 6, 7) on the headpiece permits fixing of the two straight ends of the wire piece which are twisted together as a result of the abovementioned rotation. <IMAGE>
