PURPOSE:To provide a printer enabled in accurate traverse feed by making the spring constant of a wire rope same when a carriage is present at both end parts, by specifying the length of the wire rope stretched across the carriage and a drive drum in order to traversely feed the carriage. CONSTITUTION:In a carriage traverse feed mechanism constituted so that wire ropes 8a, 8b are stretched across a carriage 7 having a printing head mounted thereto and a drive drum 10 which is driven by a motor 6 and has a spiral groove provided to the peripheral surface thereof, excessive length parts are provided to the wire ropes 8a, 8b so that the spring constants of the wire ropes 8a, 8b present between the carriage 7 and the drive drum 10 become almost equal even when the carriage is present at either one of traverse feed terminal positions. Because of this, for example, an excessive pulley 9d is provided so that one wire rope 8a is trained over the carriage 7 from the drive drum 10 through said pulley 9d and the pulley 9c at the end part. |
