PURPOSE:To manufacture a thin ECD by adding an acrylic resin to an electrolytic soln. to prevent the leak of the soln. during use at a high temp. and the formation of bubbles during use at a low temp. CONSTITUTION:An acrylic resin such as polymethyl (meth)acrylate or polyethyl (meth)acrylate is added to an electrolytic soln. in an ECD having a display electrode and a counter electrode and making use of electrochemical color developing and vanishing reactions. By adding the acrylic resin, the leak of the electrolytic soln. due to thermal expansion is not caused even when the ECD is allowed to stand at a high temp. such as 70 deg.C, and bubbles are not formed even when the ECD is allowed to stand at a low temp. such as -10 deg.C. Accordingly, it is not required to place a conventional elastic body in the cell, and the thickness of the whole cell can be reduced. |
