Conveyor incorporates a truck (16) with a round-section body (28), and a number of travel wheels (36, 38) on the underside, guiding it through the tube (12). There are also two or more side wheels (40) on opposite sides of the travel wheels, the radius of their outer periphery from the truck body lengthwise axis being less than in the case of the travel wheels, so that they are normally out of contact with the tube walls only touching them when the truck tilts sideways. One or more openings are provided in the underside of the pipe, wider than the travel wheels and in their path, but clear of those followed by the side wheels. These allow foreign bodies to drop out of the tube while the truck travels over them. |
