摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To increase the driving area rate of picture elements and to prevent the generation of disclination by covering the switching element part of the picture elements provided to each of the respective display units of an active matrix type liquid crystal display device with the other picture element electrodes connecting to the same signal line. CONSTITUTION:Transistors 11 of the switching element part of the picture element electrodes 1 of each of the respective display units of the active matrix type liquid crystal are coated partly with the picture element electrodes 1 lower by one connecting to the same 9 data line. The driving area rate of the electrodes 1 can be thereby increased as said rate is not decreased by as much as the driving area of the element part. Even if there is a short circuit between the TR 11 and the electrode 11 in said part, the short circuit can be surely and easily corrected simply by cutting the picture element electrode as shown by the alternate long and short dash line. The liquid crystal layer forms the disclination wall at the boundary between the electrode 11 and the liquid crystal layer on the data line 9 in the above-mentioned manner, by which the drop-out shown by the spot shape is prevented and the formation of the high-quality image is made possible.</p>
