FLAME RETARDANT COMPOSITION AND FLAME RETARDANT POLYMER COMPOSITION

In order to flameproof plastic materials at acceptable costs and without the disadvantage of the evolution of a toxic or corrosive substance, a flame inhibitor for plastic materials is proposed which comprises a polyhydroxil compound and an inorganic phosphate and whose components are preferably present in a ratio of from 15:1 to 0.5:1. The polyhydroxyl compound is preferably penta-, dipenta- or tripentaerythritol and the inorganic phosphate is preferably ammonium polyphosphate.
