<p>Catalysts comprising high surface area Ru supported on porous Gp. IIA metal oxides are made by (a) adsorbing a Ru precursor from a solvent selected from aldehydes, ketones, ethers and org. amines, the solvent being in excess of that needed to fill the support pores, (b) removing the solvent, and (c) reducing the Ru precursor to Ru metal. Pref. support is MgO of surface at least 100 sq. m/g. MgO may be supported on an alumina wash-coated monolith. Ru catalysts having 90-100% dispersion (450 sq. m./g. at 100%) may be made.</p> |
