<p>The multi axled suspension for the lorry and trailer has the leading edges of the leaf springs (4) firmly clamped on swivel joints (5) while the rear edges press under the hydropneumatic dampers (6) on sliding mountings. The dampers on one side of the vehicle have their hydraulic, lower sections joined by a hydraulic line incorporating flow restrictions etc. while the air cushions are similarly joined. The system provides rapid control of the suspension without requiring large throughput flow lines for the pneumatic sections. The hydraulic connections are lower than the pneumatic lines (12) and are either taken through the top of the dampers to the fluid level or from the bottom of the dampers. The dampers themselves have a lower profile, by requiring only small air cushions.</p> |
