The composition contains a mixture of a) thermoplastic polyolefin resin and b) monoolefin copolymer rubber which is vulcanised and of which at most a small proportion remains unvulcanised. The rubber is a copolymer of a) ethylene or propylene, b) at least one further alpha -olefin of the formula CH2=CHR, in which R is alkyl having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, and optionally c) a small amount of at least one copolymerisable diene. The weight Wp of the thermoplastic polyolefin resin, the weight WR of the monoolefin copolymer rubber and the weight WO of the extender oil which may be present satisfy the conditions given in Claim 1. The composition can be processed in an internal mixer to give a product which forms a continuous sheeted-out compound in a roll mill if the resin phase is molten. The vulcanised rubber contains a maximum of 3% by weight of rubber which can be extracted by cyclohexane at 23 DEG C or has a crosslinking density of greater than 7 x 10<-5> mol/ml of rubber. The composition is prepared by mixing the unvulcanised constituents and at least one vulcanising agent at at least the softening point of the resin and continuously kneading (compounding) the mixture at the vulcanisation temperature. |
