The side panels of the vehicle are assembled from inner and outer skins which are welded at the joining edges with each other and with the front and rear cross sections. Each side panel is thus made from two pressings, with the front and rear wheel arches formed by the inside skin. Assembly costs are reduced while weld seams and rust spots are minimised.
