<p>Nut skin slitter has a pair of rolls arranged one above the other and supported on respective parallel arbors to define a nut receiving gap, with a slitting device arranged adjacent the gap to engage nuts passing therethrough. A frame carries bearings supporting opposite ends of the arbor with parallel guides on the frame, engaging the ends of at least one of the arbors, and extending along parallel paths intersecting the axes of both rolls. An adjusting system including a crank pivoted to the frame at each end of the one arbor, each of the cranks connected to the opposite ends of the one arbor, with the cranks being connected for simultaneous movement in response to movement of a lever including a handle which extends outwardly from the machine. The appts. provides slits in the skin of nuts to assist in removal of the skin by blanching. The appts. is quickly and easily adjusted to accommodate different sizes of nuts. A number of machines in a row may all be set to the same nut size by aligning the adjustment handles.</p> |
