PURPOSE:A friction material useful as clutches, brakes, etc. of automobiles, industrial machinery, railway vehicles, etc., having permanently rust-preventing effect, obtained by pre-blending granules such as cashew dust, etc. as one component of a filler with an alkaline deliquescent substance. CONSTITUTION:(C) A filler component such as cashew dust, graphite, barium sulfate, (un)vulcanized rubber, etc. pre-blended with an alkaline deliquescent substance such as sodium nitrite, etc. is uniformly dispersed into (A) a fibrous component such as asbestos, metallic fiber, organic fiber, etc. and (B) a binder component such as phenolic resin, epoxy resin, etc., to give the desired friction material. |
