PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic head which is suitable for vertical magnetization and has high efficiency with the magnetic head which magnetizes a magnetic recording medium in a vertical direction by the magnetic field generated when current is passed to thin film conductors by making the film thickness in the rear end part of a thin magnetic film larger than the film thickness in the front end part thereof. CONSTITUTION:The 1st thin film conductor 11 which is a good conductor such as copper, gold, aluminum, etc. having about, for example, several mum thickness, is formed on a base plate 10 by the means such as sputtering or vapor deposition. An insulating film 12 of, for example, SiO2, etc. is formed on the conductor 11 and further a thin film 13 of, for example, a high permeability magnetic material such as ''Permalloy'' or the like having about 0.1-10mum front end thickness is formed thereon. The conductor 11 and the conductor 15 are electrically connected at one end 16 thereof and the other ends 17, 18 are respectively taken out as terminals. When current is passed to the conductor 11 with such constitution, the current in the reverse direction flows in the conductor 15 by which the magnetic flux having a large vertical component is generated and a magnetic tape is vertically magnetized. |
