<p>NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (COOR is carboxy or esterified carboxy; X is H, halogen, azido, lower alkoxy, lower alkylthio, lower alkanoyloxy or formyloxy) and its salt. EXAMPLE:6-(DL-alpha-Chloro-4-carboxyphenylacetamido)-penicillanic acid. USE:An antibacterial agent effective to Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It is useful as a remedy for mastitis or an enriching agent for animal food. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I is prepared by reacting the aminopenicillanic acid of formula II or its derivative having protected carboxy or amino group, or its salt, with the reactive derivative of the substituted phenylacetic acid of formula II, and if necessary, removing the ester group or the protecting group from the product.</p> |
