PURPOSE:To obtain inexpensively a non-lubricated composite sliding member formed by casting-in inserts of graphite members by providing notches to a pattern formed of an expanded polystyrene resin, mounting the graphite members therein, embedding and molding the same into a sand mold and pouring a molten metal into the mold. CONSTITUTION:A pattern 1 having the shape of a sliding member is formed by using an expanded polystyrene resin. Notches 1a having a trapezoidal section are provided to such pattern 1 and graphite members 2 and fixtures 3 thereof are mounted therein. The pattern 1 is embedded into a casting mold by molding sand 6. A copper alloy to be used as a base material for a non-lubricated composite sliding member is poured into the casting mold through the sprue 7 thereof and the members 2 are cast-in, while the disposing condition of the members 2 is fixed. Formation of thin walled parts 8 of the copper alloy on the rear side is made possible with such sliding member without deteriorating the sliding characteristic thereof and the production cost is reduced. |
