A manual labelling unit is disclosed which uses labels which adhere removably to a backing tape. The labelling unit has a frame with two identical frame sections. First, second and third feed rollers are mounted in the frame. The first and third feed rollers project above the frame and interact with the second feed roller. The frame has a detaching device and a guideway for the backing tape. The backing tape can be moved through the guideway and round the detaching device in any direction. In any case, the first, second and third feed rollers interact with the backing tape to move it forwards and to detach the labels. Depending on the direction of feed, either the first or the third feed roller is used to move the backing tape forwards, the feed roller in question rolling on the surface to be labelled. A roll of labels is enclosed by a holder which has two identical casing sections. In an alternative embodiment, a winding device is provided for the strip of labels, to permit winding up of a strip of labels for subsequent use in the labelling unit. Identical diecast parts permit cost-effective construction. A labelling unit manufacturing method and a labelling method are also disclosed. A blank for manufacturing a label holder, a method for manufacturing a label roll holder and another embodiment of a label roll holder are disclosed in addition. Finally, embodiments of winding devices are disclosed which have a set of gears and which can be used to wind a strip of labels into a roll which can be used in the labelling unit. A handle connects the roll holder to the frame of the unit. |
