The safety closure 15 is intended for filter housings 10, the housing parts 11; 12 of which are arranged one above the other and are drawn towards each other by a central screw coupling. A venting screw 40, designed as a cap nut, is screwed onto the threaded stem 34 of a central screw 20, through which a venting channel 23 passes. Venting screw 40 and central screw 20 are coupled to each other by means of a driving pin 50 and a stop pin 30 in such a way that, when the safety closure 15 is released, the driving pin 50 only comes to bear against the stop pin 30 after the sealing ring 46 becomes ineffective and consequently only after opening of the venting channel 23, but before the sealing ring 14 between the housing parts 11; 12 becomes ineffective. <IMAGE>
