A valve assembly of the butterfly type wherein the valve seat assembly is comprised of an annular, rigid seat support ring which is generally U-shaped in transverse cross section providing a radially inwardly opening channel for receipt of an elastomeric seat member, the elastomeric seat member substantially filling the channel-shaped support ring and having a portion extending radially inward to provide an annularly extending seating surface for engagement with the peripheral sealing edge of the disk, the elastomeric portion of the seat assembly having a configuration which permits the pressure rating sealing capabilities of the valve to be changed using the same seat assembly or, alternatively, provides for a seat assembly of extended life. |
