PURPOSE:To dispense with separate system drive shafts for every spindle irrespective of different directional properties of the spindle to provide a simple construction and a compact turret by transmitting rotation from a central drive shaft to a rotary tool shaft of a longitudinal rotary spindle and a lateral rotary spindle. CONSTITUTION:A turret 1 holding a tool can move forward and backward axially of a turret shaft 2 and be intermittently indexed around the shaft 2. A rotary tool shaft 6 is interposed between a first drive shaft 8 and a second drive shaft 9 to be rotated or stopped through the operation of a pair of clutches 10. Also, the shaft 6 is a spindle drive shaft for rotary tool shafts 11 provided on a longitudinal rotary spindle rotating around the rotary axis of a workpiece and on a lateral rotary spindle rotating about the axis perpendicular to the rotary spindle. A central drive shaft 5 journalled on the turret shaft is operated to rotate the shaft 6 through bevel gears 18, 17 mesing with each other so that the rotation thereof is transmitted to the rotary spindle on the shaft 6 to work the workpiece through the tool 11. |
