PURPOSE:To reduce the electric resistance and to increase the tensile strength and elongation by providing a mixture of an organic high molecular substance coupled with carbon in the molecule, pitch, and carbon black having physical properties such as high pH and small specific surface area and iodine adsorption number. CONSTITUTION:1-30wt% carbon black is mixed into an organic high molecular substance coupled with carbon in the molecule such as vinyl chloride, acrylonitrile, and styrene resins and/or pitch to obtain a mixture. The mixture is heat- treated at >=1,000 deg.C, preferably at 1,000-1,600 deg.C, under a nonoxidative atmosphere to obtain the carbon black for surface heaters contg. powdered carbon having >=9pH, 40-70m<3>/g specific surface area, and 50-80mg/g iodine adsorption number. |
