Fine machine parts are washed by being successively fed through a symmetrical chamber, e.g. a tube, into which a solvent is injected using the pressure. The solvent follows a helical path round the direction of travel of the parts, and impinges with great force an at a small angle, onto the parts, so impurities are either dissolved or driven off the parts. The solvent is pref. subjected to rotary motion so it flows out of exit holes in the chamber; and the parts are pref. demagnetised before reaching the solvent sprays. The chamber is esp. a vertical tube with tangential inlet nozles for the solvent located above grooves contg. exit holes through which the contaminated solvent is driven by centrifugal force. Used e.g. for washing balls or rollers used in rolling bearings.
|
