The control system is intended for the adjustable elements of the sheet positioning mechanism, particularly of a printing machine. The elements are provided with individual positioners which feed back their actual positions to a unit providing the required positions. This unit has inputs for the paper weight, sheet format and speed of the mechanism and is connected or integrated with a computer. This stores the empirically determined values for all operating conditions and causes the unit to provide the appropriate element positioning signals.
