PURPOSE:To obtain high output and at the same time to extend the still lifetime for a magnetic recording medium by coating the solution of a surfactant on the surface of a ferromagnetic thin film while heating a substrate after formation of said thin film to obtain a protecting layer and then coating a solvent containing mainly the surfactant on said protecting film to obtain the 2nd protecting film. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 1 is driven along the circumferential side of a heating roll 2 after formation of a ferromagnetic thin film, and the surface of the substrate 1 is dipped in a solution 5 of a surfactant of stearic acid, etc. which is heated by a heater 4 stored in a tank 3. Thus a protecting layer is formed on said thin film. Then the substrate 1 is driven along the circumferential side of a roll 8 via guide rolls 6 and 7 and dipped in a solution 11 containing mainly a surfactant heated by a heater 10 stored in a tank 9. Thus the 2nd protecting film is formed. Then the substrate 1 is driven between heaters 14 and 15 and taken up to a take-up roll 16. In this way the high output is obtained and the still lifetime of a magnetic recording medium is extended. |
