PURPOSE:To improve wettability with water and oxygen permeability by copolymerizing a specified polysiloxanyl alkyl ester with an ester of a specified uni- or multi-valent alkanol or aromatic alcohol and methacrylic, acrylic, itaconic, or methylenemalonic acid. CONSTITUTION:A contact lens superior in both of water wettability and oxygen permeability and capable of being continuously worn without any uncomfortable feeling by copolymerizing polysiloxanyl alkyl ester represented by formula I or II(R2, R3 are each 1-3C alkyl, aryl, or formula III; R4 is 1-20C alkyl. aryl, or formula IV; R1, R'1, R''1 are each 1-3C alkyl or aryl; and (l) is an integer of 1-5) with an ester of a uni- or multi-valent alkanol or aromatic alcohol and methacrylic, acrylic, itaconic, or methylenemalonic acid, and using the obtained copolymer for the contact lens. |
