PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a level difference between a metallic magnetic thin film and nonmagnetic materials holding said thin film between, by using said nonmagnetic material having a lower level of wear resistance at an area near a magnetic gap than other areas. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 11 is obtained by holding a metallic ferromagnetic thin film 12 between composite guard plates 15 and 15' consisting of a nonmagnetic material of high wear resistance such as nonmagnetic ceramics 13 and a metallic magnetic oxide such as ferrite 14. A nonmagnetic material having low wear resistance such as glass 16 of a low melting point is used at an area near the gap (g) of the ceramics 13 forming tape rubbing parts 15a and 15a' of the plates 15 and 15'. As a result, no level difference is produced between the film 12 and the plates 15 and 15' at the area near the gap (g). |
