PURPOSE:To prevent a shift at the joint of sensors by arranging plural line sensors while making the reading position different and outputting the output of preceding scanning with a prescribed time of delay. CONSTITUTION:Plural line sensor chips 1-4 are arranged in zigzag and ineffective photodetectors are provided to the overlapped part of each chip. The preceding chips 1, 3 are provided with a vertical CCD register to transfer an electric charge outputted from the shift gate of the chip in parallel. The outputs of the sensor chips 1, 3 are delayed by a time corresponding to the shift of the reading position. A clock CLK eliminating the transfer clock of dummy picture element's share is fed to a dither counter 76 from a controller 90. Thus, the matrix of a dither ROM75 is not discontinuous at the joint between the chips 1 and 2. A dot data obtained by comparing the value of the dither ROM75 and a picture signal is stored to any of RAMs 77, 78. The dummy component is not stored in the RAMs 77, 78 similarly as mentioned above. The RAMs 77, 78 are operated alternately and a continuous output is obtained. |
