COAGULOMETER

The start of coagulation is detected automatically by detection of the track of a ball in a tube. An electrical circuit produces a control pulse at the precise time of coagulation to stop a chronometer or recorder. - A coagulator tube (1) has a cylindrical wall (2) whose thickners decreases towards the top. In the centre of the base (3) is a conical protrusion which converges towards its top. The base also has a track (6) in which a steel ball (5) travels. - The ball operates in conjunction with channels and ribs (8) spaced around the lower wall. These do not protrude sufficiently to control the ball. The tube is slightly inclined when rotated and a hall effect sensor determined the ball position to stop operation of a recorder when coagulation occurs.
