CONSTITUTION:The irradiating position of a vertical downward laser beam 2 is biased in the rotating direction from the perpendicular plane Y of the axial center of a rolling roll 1 and the angle theta with the circumferential tangent C in the irradiating part P is set within an about 30-75 deg. range in correcting the surface of said roll, etc. by the laser beam. If an assist gas 6 is blown downward from diagonal above to the part P in this case, the melt is smoothly scattered and the satisfactory surface is formed without making build-up on the roll surface. |
