<p>Two coaxially arranged tubular elements (1, 2), one of which is connected in an axially permanent fashion to the steering element of a vehicle and the other of which is connected permanently to the vehicle body are connected to one another in a telescopic fashion in such a way that an annular chamber (3) which is closed off in a sealed fashion is produced between these elements (1, 2). This annular chamber is filled with hydraulic fluid (6). An annular piston (7) which divides the annular chamber (3) into two sub-chambers (3a, 3b) is connected to one of the two tubular elements whilst the other tubular element bears a casing pipe (8) which interacts with the free edge of the annular piston (7). The casing pipe has openings through which the hydraulic fluid (6) is enabled to pass from one sub-chamber (3a) to the other (3b) when the two tubular elements (1, 2) are displaced towards one another in a sliding fashion as a result of an abutment effect after the connecting means (11) which are arranged between the two tubular elements (1, 2) break off. <IMAGE></p> |
