The invention relates to the packaging industry. The subject of the invention is a tamper evident cap with one or more internal grooves engaged on a rim of the container which it closes and comprising a tear-off strip 7, the bottom edge 11 of the cap 4 being provided, over its entire periphery, with a short thin skirt 12 as defined which is damaged when the cap is removed from the container other than by tearing off the tear-off strip 7.
