PURPOSE:To prevent a failure in retrieving a desired film frame by providing friction guide members which abuts on both side edges of the film opposite to each other on the right and left sides of a mark detector, and performing brake control when the film is stopped. CONSTITUTION:When the microfilm is stopped abruptly after high-speed retrieval, brakes 12 and 13 operate on a driving and a driven side at the same time, and the driven-side brake is turned off a time T1 later for a time T2 and then turned on again to form a specific sag when the film is stopped. This sag absorbs the film feed-directional oscillation due to the play of a mechanism system, etc., and even if oscillation due to this sag occurs, the film is stopped at a stable position by friction guide members 39 and 39a, and 40 and 40a without any influence of oscillation before and behind the mark detector 17, so miscounting of the mark detector 17 is prevented. |
