PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a tape by repeating the start and stop in a ready state where the tension is given to the tape to perform the write/read of data, and releasing the tension by a tape buffer part in a pause mode. CONSTITUTION:When a detection signal B is produced and the tape is stopped, a tape reset signal TR is supplied to an AND circuit 11b from outside. Then an output signal A2 is applied to both a timer 19 and a flip-flop 18. Thus a reverse running signal RV is supplied to a reel driving part, and the tap is reversed from the detecting position of a BOT marker for a fixed period of time set previously to the timer 19, then stopped. In the same way, a tension arm control circuit 10 is turned off by the signal T fed from the timer 19. Then the supply of a drive signal D is cut off to a motor 13 so that the tension arm to the retracting position. Therefore the tape is set under a pause state of a no-ready state. Then the signal TR is supplied again to an AND circuit 11a, and the tape is set under a ready state and started. |
